Cortex Lab teaming up with Ubitus to build Japan’s largest GPU cloud for “AI on Blockchain” business
18-07-03Cortex Lab and Ubitus signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation at Ubitus headquarter in Japan recently. Both parties will conduct extensive exchange and commercial cooperation on putting AI smart contract technology into practice on blockchain.
Cortex is a world-renowned AI blockchain platform provider. Its establishment goal is to provide all AI and machine learning companies or research organizations a blockchain platform, where they can use smart contract to deploy many different training models, and combine a large amount of GPU computing power to quickly build inference results. Cortex Coin (CTXC) issued by Cortex can be used as a reward for machine learning model providers.
Ubitus is a world leading cloud gaming platform service provider, cooperating with many famous game publishers to offer cross platform streaming game service. In recent years, as the demand of GPU on AI and blockchain is increasing sharply, Ubitus also built a large amount of GPU computing power to form a new GaaS (GPUs-as-a-Service) cloud service platform, deploying the largest GPU computing power service in Japan, serving customers in Japan, Taiwan, Korea. Through its strong GaaS resource and AI project experience, Ubitus collaborated with Cortex to implement AI smart contract on blockchain, further improving AI infrastructure.
“Blockchain is a very important part of AI practical application,” said Ziqi Chen, the founder of Cortex Lab. After getting involved in blockchain industry since 2013, he deeply understood that computing and data storage infrastructure constructed on decentralized network will bring amazing innovations and opportunities for various industries.
Through Cortex’s virtual machine technologies such as GPU and FPGA, AI smart contract is put in CVM (Cortex Virtual Machine); therefore, AI project managers can use computing power resources in an environment where information is safe, and can also use outstanding AI model by blockchain technology. On the other hand, model providers get rewards through blockchain verification, which encourages model providers to contribute their results, making experts in various fields focus on their professional areas. Therefore, computing power, information and model development of AI can be acquired by crowd-sourcing, accelerating iteration of projects to achieve success.
According to Wesley Kuo, CEO of Ubitus, AI is the 5th industrial revolution, and competitiveness of a company will be determined by its computing power. However, the construction of a huge amount of stable computing power requires not only expensive equipment and high operating costs, but also professional AI and GPU talents, which is a very high entry barrier for most companies. Therefore, the adoption of GaaS solution helps companies rapidly develop AI applications and build AI assets and business models.
Ubitus has cooperated with major academic institutions and companies since the establishment of GaaS, assisting practical applications of various research projects. Through cooperation with Cortex, Ubitus is able to provide an integrated platform for AI model optimization and transaction through blockchain technology. The better development of industry brings better service to AI project customers, and maximizes current utilization of computing power resources, achieving a win-win situation. Ubitus will also combine its game industry experience and resource to establish a blockchain business department. No matter on AI or blockchain project, Ubitus and Cortex are powerful alliances, which are bound to inject new energy into this industry.
About Cortex Lab
Cortex is going to create a literally “smart contract” that continuously learn and progress for bottom-level public chain. By combining machine learning model of AI domain into smart contract program, smart contract is able to deduce and develop on its own, which is also the future direction of AI calculation.
Cortex team currently focuses on calculation, and puts AI, the most appealing part in calculation, on blockchain, further enhancing the calculation ability of the smart contract, and dedicated to realizing decentralized AI autonomous system. Because of such cutting-edge technology, Cortex has attracted investment from well-known organizations such as Bitmain, FBG Capital, Nirvana Capital, and Danhua Capital. Besides, Dr. Whitfield Diffie, the father of modern cryptography and 2015 Turing Award winner, also joined their team.
